Walt Disney Concert Hall
ABOUT THE HALL
Located at 111 S. Grand Avenue in the heart of the Grand Avenue Cultural District in downtown Los Angeles, Walt Disney Concert Hall opened in October 2003 and is part of The Music Center campus. It is the performance home of the Los Angeles Master Chorale and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
• The Hall was designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry as a “living room for the city” where music would be accessible to many different people.
• Acoustician Yasuhisa Toyota worked with Gehry to maximize The Hall’s sound quality – from the curved form of the venue to the choice of Douglas fir wood as a building material – it’s heralded as one of the most acoustically sophisticated concert halls in the world.
• An architectural landmark known for its distinctive curved stainless-steel façade, it attracts visitors from around the globe.
• Lillian Disney, the widow of Walt Disney, donated $50 million to build the venue as a gift to the people of Los Angeles and a tribute to her husband's devotion to the arts and the city.
• With a seating capacity of 2,265, there’s not a bad seat in the house!
