On February 1, 2026, the Recording Academy announced the winners of the 68th Grammy Awards.  The Los Angeles Master Chorale was recognized for Best Choral Performance for its work on composer Gabriela Ortiz’s album Yanga with Grant Gershon as chorus master, orchestra conducted by Los Angeles Philharmonic Music Director Gustavo Dudamel, along with the Tambuco Percussion Ensemble. The Master Chorale was also nominated in the same category for our collaboration with Billy Childs’ In the Arms of the Beloved with Anne Akiko Meyers.

The extraordinary 16th-century African liberator Gaspar Yanga lives on through Gaby’s vivid music. This is the second Grammy win for the organization. In 2021, the Recording Academy awarded the Master Chorale with Best Choral Performance for Mahler: Symphony No. 8,'Symphony of a Thousand' with the Los Angeles Children's Chorus, National Children's Chorus, Pacific Chorale and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
