Bio:
Bryan Lane is a performer and recording artist with diverse tastes and abilities, who desires to move his audiences on a deep level through honest performance of varied repertoire. He has been a roster member of the Los Angeles Master Chorale since 2015 and has sung professionally with many regional and national companies/organizations including the Oregon Bach Festival, Seattle Opera, Santa Fe Desert Chorale, Opera Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara Choral Society, San Diego Pro Arte Voices, and Pasadena Pro Musica.
On the concert stage he has performed the role of the Celebrant in Leonard Bernstein’s Mass, tenor solos in Benjamin Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb, Craig Hella Johnson’s Considering Matthew Shepard, the title role in Handel's Samson, tenor solos in Handel’s Israel in Egypt, Joseph Haydn's Creation, Paukenmesse and Harmoniemesse, Claudio Monteverdi’s Vespro Della Beata Vergine, Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de confessore and Great Mass in C minor, and one of the solo evangelist roles in Arvo Pärt’s Passio. He was honored to make his Walt Disney Concert Hall solo debut in the Master Chorale’s 2015 Messiah Sing-Along.
A passionate and devoted performer of early music, highlights of his early music performances include solos in the modern premiere of Christoph Graupner’s cantata “Ah, wo nun hin” and the modern premiere of an 11th century Aquitanian chant mass at the Getty Center with the late medieval scholar Dr. Alejandro Planchart. Bryan was a winner of the 2015 Early Music America Summer Scholarship.
He has sung on film/TV scores such as Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker and the Netflix series Altered Carbon. He can be seen on screen as a featured role in the 2018 short film Lacrimosa directed by Arnaud Uyttenhove and produced by the LA Master Chorale. His improvised vocal stylings were captured on the exotic solo vocal library Voice of Gaia: Bryn, produced by Soundiron Instruments and heard on such albums as Gary Numan’s 2017 Savage.
As a trumpet player and recording artist, he has often collaborated with composer/arranger Trevor Welsh and can be heard on the independent films Chicken Suit and The Sacrifice of Old San Juan by director A.K. Hottmann. His trumpet work can also be heard on the 2017 album Casanova by rapper Brian Fresco, and on alt-country albums Giants and Creek Road by singer/songwriter Trevor Borden.
Bryan is also a passionate arts administrator and music educator, he is currently on staff at the Ojai Music Festival and teaches on the voice faculty of California Lutheran University.
