Highlights of your musical career:
Working with the incredible musicians in Los Angeles provides for so many musical highlights. Akhnaten with LAOpera was an extraordinary experience because of the gorgeous music and groundbreaking production. In addition to the stunning production, the recording we made at LA Opera of The Ghosts of Versailles won two Grammy Awards this year including Best Opera Recording. Grant Gershon and Gustavo Dudamel provide constant inspiration for me. My career until now has been lengthy and full of wonderful experiences around the country, but I feel LA is hard to beat these days!
Favorite choral work(s):
Gorecki Miserere; anything by John Adams; Mahler 2 and Mahler 3; Brahms Requiem. Etc.!
A defining moment of favorite LA Master Chorale onstage experience:
What are you listening to these days?
I have been listening to a lot of Philip Glass since singing in Akhnaten. Otherwise I love pop music of all kinds!
Anything you'd like to add about yourself?
It is such an honor to sing in the Master Chorale. I look forward to every single concert we perform.
Where do you live in L.A.?
What L.A. experience do you consider essential for visitors/newcomers?
The music scene is hot! Go to see any musical event here - LAMC, LAOpera, LAPhil, LA Chamber Orchestra, any small production company. You really can't lose. (And that doesn't include all the wonderful theatre here too).
