Dr. Garineh Avakian is originally from Los Angeles and is a Tenured Associate Professor of Voice and Choral Music at Pierce College in Woodland Hills, CA. She sings in the alto section with the Los Angeles Master Chorale since 2015. Dr. Avakian regularly adjudicates and gives master classes with organizations such as Southern California Vocal Association. She also conducts and directs the Lark Treble Choir in Glendale, CA. Garineh is a graduate of San Francisco Conservatory of Music and USC Thornton School of Music.
In the past, Garineh has recorded albums sponsored by Armenian Organizations; sold and promoted these albums around the world. The proceeds were donated to orphanages in Armenia. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Hollywood Bowl, and Davies Symphony Hall in SF. Dr. Avakian has been a music director at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Granada Hills and currently has a large private vocal studio. She has recorded for Star Wars: The Last Jedi soundtrack with John Williams and has worked with conductors such as, Gustavo Dudamel, Grant Gershon, Maria Guinand, Carl St. Clair, Eric Whitacre, Zubin Mehta, Vatsche Barsoumian, Susanna Malkki and more.
