ABOUT THIS CONCERT
Dynamic rhythms, sublime melodies, and virtuosic solo passages express both the heights of salvation and depths of damnation in the composer’s epic and dramatic setting of the ancient Catholic funeral mass. Shifting between glorious lyricism and breathtaking power, from muted sorrow in the opening movement to the sheer terror of the work’s famous "Dies irae," a performance of Verdi’s Requiem is always a soul-stirring event. Run time is approximately 90 minutes and is presented without an intermission.PROGRAM
