Los Angeles Master Chorale Inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame

The LA Master Chorale was inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame during its recent Lux Aeterna celebrations.

The Los Angeles Master Chorale was inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame on Thursday, June 22 during one of its Lux Aeterna 20th Anniversary celebration concerts. The honor was accepted by Artistic Director Grant Gershon and President & CEO Jean Davidson on behalf of the Master Chorale from the stage of their iconic home, the Walt Disney Concert Hall. 

The LA Master Chorale joins previous esteemed inductees in the ensembles category such as the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and Handel and Haydn Society. The American Classical Music Hall of Fame (ACMHF) was founded in 1996 and is based in Cincinnati. It seeks to build and sustain enthusiasm for classical music in America by celebrating diverse facets of classical music excellence. Over 100 ensembles and individual musicians and composers have been inducted. The Los Angeles Master Chorale was selected by the Board of Directors earlier this month in recognition of its contributions to classical music. 

The medallion presentation was made by Catherine Dehoney, the CEO of Chorus America, during its annual conference. 

“It is an honor for the Master Chorale to accept this recognition, and it is fitting that our induction will be made during the last of our three concerts celebrating the 20th anniversary of Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna on a concert program filled with Los Angeles composers. It is also wonderful to receive this in front of so many of our peers from Chorus America,” said Artistic Director Grant Gershon.
