Listen Now: Exclusive Interview with Grant Gershon about bringing Music to Accompany A Departure to Chicago
Led by Artistic Director Grant Gershon, the Los Angeles Master Chorale is an innovative, diverse, and fully professional chorus. As choir-in-residence at Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Chorale performs in large scale projects such as recording the soundtracks of motion pictures and partnering with the Los Angeles Philharmonic for symphonic repertoire. Los Angeles Master Chorale also specializes in new music and bespoke collaborations which necessarily changes the scale of the ensemble.
Music to Accompany a Departure, a theatrical reimagination of Heinrich Schütz’s Musikalische Exequien (Funeral Music), is the ensemble’s second collaboration with the pioneering stage director Peter Sellars. Grant Gershon joins WFMT to survey some the Chorale’s recent recordings and to preview their upcoming performance of Music to Accompany a Departure at the Harris Theater.
