IN THE NEWS: DECEMBER 2021

Coverage of our season opener and multiple Grammy nominations for Mahler's Symphony No. 8, plus mentions of our annual holiday concerts appear in this month's press roundup.

Our subscription season began with Rachmaninoff’s All-Night Vigil on November 20 and 21, and Mark Swed’s Los Angeles Times review of the “magnificently illuminating performance led by Grant Gershon” shares the wonderful sentiment that we’ve all been feeling: “Welcome back, Master Chorale. You’ve been missed.”

The 2022 Grammy nominations were announced on November 23, and Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic's recording of Mahler's Symphony No. 8 with the Master Chorale received two nominations: Best Choral Performance and Best Engineered Album, Classical. Fingers are crossed for a win when the Grammy Awards take place on January 31. The Master Chorale was included in much of the news coverage that announced the nominations, including The New York TimesLos Angeles Times, and Pollstar.

This month we have been celebrating the return of our beloved holiday programs, Festival of Carols and Handel’s Messiah, which were previewed in the Los Angeles Times and San Francisco Classical Voice holiday roundups.

We also, unfortunately, have had to cancel our Messiah Sing-Along, as covered by the Los Angeles Times. But, we were able to announce, earlier in December, an alternative: a free sing-along we're calling Carols on the Plaza on December 20 at 6 pm on the Jerry Moss Plaza at The Music Center. We hope you can join us.

We’re certainly closing out the year on a high note, and we look forward to much more success and singing in 2022.
