IN THE NEWS: OCTOBER 2020

A thoughtful profile of Jenny Wong in the Los Angeles Times, a north-of-the-border podcast appearance by Grant Gershon, and more reviews of our new album The Sacred Veil.

Jessica Gelt wrote a thoughtful profile of Associate Artistic Director Jenny Wong in the Los Angeles Times earlier this month. The piece shares Jenny’s own inspiring journey as a woman of color in the choral industry and discusses her plans to help the Master Chorale fulfill its commitment to devote 50% of its programming to composers from underrepresented groups. Jenny also appeared on the Spectrum News program LA Times Today on October 14.

While Jenny was busy with the Los Angeles Times, Grant Gershon appeared on an ongoing interview series produced by Chor Leoni Men’s Choir in Vancouver to discuss the Master Chorale’s recording of Eric Whitacre’s The Sacred Veil. You can watch it on Facebook or YouTube.

Finally, the reviews keep coming for The Sacred Veil, including five-star evaluations from AllMusic and Stereophile. New York’s classical station WQXR also featured The Sacred Veil in their roundup of new releases, “Latest/Greatest,” noting that “Whitacre’s score delicately probes the motif’s rich harmonic possibilities as the song cycle progresses, aided by the eminently tender voices of the Los Angeles Master Chorale, in creating a work of utmost poignancy.”
