FROM OUR PRESIDENT & CEO
The holiday season is always special for the Los Angeles Master Chorale. We delight in spreading yuletide joy with Festival of Carols and in sharing the magic of Handel’s Messiah. Such is the case this year, with one sad exception: to ensure that our audiences remain safe from COVID-19, and in consultation with the Los Angeles Department of Public Health, we have decided to cancel our Messiah Sing-Along, scheduled for December 20. If you have tickets to this event, you may exchange or donate your tickets, or seek a refund, through our box office at 213-972-7282.
We do have good news, though. We are replacing Messiah Sing-Along with a free, outdoor holiday sing-along event on December 20 at 6 pm on the Jerry Moss Plaza at The Music Center. At Carols on the Plaza, 20 of our singers, Associate Artistic Director Jenny Wong, and Kiki & David Gindler Artistic Director Grant Gershon will lead participants in a collection of holiday songs. Again, Carols on the Plaza is free, so dress up in some warm clothes and come sing with us.
During this time, we gratefully welcome new and returning members through our fall annual fund campaign honoring Grant Gershon in his 20th anniversary season as Kiki & David Gindler Artistic Director. The past year has been one of our most challenging, and we thank you for helping us to get through it; now, we’re asking you to look to the future with us so that we may thrive and grow. If you’ve already made your gift, we thank you very much. If not, please consider including us in your end-of-year giving plans.
We thank you for continuing to follow our concert COVID-19 safety precautions, which include proof of vaccination and masking at all times within Walt Disney Concert Hall. We take the pandemic seriously and want everyone to feel safe at our concerts. I know you do too.
This is my last letter of 2021, so I want to extend to you and your loved ones a very happy holiday season and a happy new year. See you in 2022 in Walt Disney Concert Hall with the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
