Los Angeles Master Chorale | Walt Disney Concert Hall

FROM OUR PRESIDENT & CEO

APRIL 2021

The past few weeks have seen a flurry of reports and stories about the performing arts and the pandemic, including news that California plans to fully re-open the economy on June 15. It is certainly a good sign that our state administration is looking toward a time when we can live, work, play—and sing—together. Here at the Los Angeles Master Chorale, we are working tirelessly to get back to providing our audience a moving choral experience that is second to none.

As of now, we hope to return to Walt Disney Concert Hall in the fall with programs that include our annual Festival of Carols and Messiah programs. Most of the previous 2020–21 season will be presented in 2021–22, though Grant Gershon, Kiki and David Gindler Artistic Director, may make some modifications to repertoire.  We will share more information with you in the coming months, as our plans are approved by Los Angeles County.

We have also been working closely with The Music Center to ensure the safety of our patrons. You may read more about our campus-wide commitment to your safety on the Music Center website.

While changes in pandemic conditions and regulations could necessitate altering our plans, it is important to share with you where we are now in the process of preparing for our return. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy our online presentations, including the video performance, available on our website April 23, by the hundreds of students who participated in our most recent High School Choir Festival.

I hope you will also join us for GALA 2021 on May 16, honoring philanthropist Laney Techentin and the singers of the Los Angeles Master Chorale. We are pleased that the brilliant Patti LuPone will be joining us a special guest host. And, of course, you will get to hear and see our singers in performance once again. Hopefully, this will be our last virtual gala and a heartening event for all.

Whether you can attend the gala or not, I thank you for your support of the Master Chorale. We value your participation in our community and hope we can meet again in person soon.
