Karen Hogle Brown
Soprano
Karen Hogle Brown is a soprano, conductor, and teaching artist who is passionate about bringing both old and new musical works to a 21st century audience. She has been featured with the Los Angeles Master Chorale, Pacific Opera Project, Long Beach Opera, Opera San Luis Obispo, Opera a la Carte, and the LA Opera Chorus. She recently founded HERS: Music Ensemble, dedicated to advocating for more gender equity in the performing arts (see more at www.hersmusic.org ). Recent operas include The Magic Flute, The Impresario, La Cenerentola, The Tsar’s Bride. Solo concert performances include Schnittke's Symphony No. 4 with the LA Phil, Vivaldi’s Gloria, The Messiah, Bach's Magnificat, and Grant Gershon's Annual Maestro dinner at Walt Disney Concert Hall. She most recently recorded Reena Esmail’s The History of Red with the Darshan Trio for video release, and is also featured on several classical (some Grammy winning) recordings, and movie soundtracks including the LA Phil’s Mahler Symphony No. 8, A Good Understanding by Nico Muhly, Daniel Variations by Steve Reich, the e.e. cummings cycle of JAC Redford for his latest song album, and on numerous movie soundtracks including Avatar and recently the show The 100. She is also on faculty at Occidental College, a teaching artist for LA Opera, and has her own private vocal studio. www.karenhoglebrown.com
