Bio:

Mezzo-soprano Wooyoung Kim, a South Korean-born artist, is known for her warm voice and exhilarating performances across concert, oratorio, opera, and contemporary works. She was awarded the Grand Prize at the CBS Competition and has received multiple awards from other national vocal competitions. 

Wooyoung has built her career both as a soloist and as an ensemble member. Now a member of the Los Angeles Master Chorale, she enjoys working alongside accomplished singers as she continues to hone her craft for every stage. She has appeared as an alto soloist in Handel’s Messiah, Rossini’s Gloria, and Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and has performed in a wide range of projects including Beth Morrison Projects at USC, the Handel Project at the New England Conservatory, the Shakespeare Project, LA’s Rising K-Classic concert, and numerous benefit concerts for community wellness. 

Kim began her professional opera career as Dorabella in Così fan tutte, and made her South Korean debut with the Buseon Philharmonic in The Magic Flute. She has since starred in numerous opera productions in Boston, Los Angeles, and South Korea. 

She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Kyung Hee University, a Master of Music from the New England Conservatory, and a Graduate Certificate from the University of Southern California(USC) Thornton School of Music.
