MASTER CHORALE IN THE NEWS

SEPTEMBER 2020

As part of a July article on the Master Chorale, the Los Angeles Times interviewed Grant Gershon, Kiki & David Gindler Artistic Director, who announced our commitment to dedicating 50% of our programming to underrepresented groups. Talking about the story on Spectrum News’s LA Times Today, Jessica Gelt called this move “huge in classical music” and an “exciting development” that marks the Master Chorale as a leader for other groups to follow.

Grant and singer Sharmila G. Lash also share their reflections on recording a virtual choir with the Master Chorale in the KCET story “L.A.’s Choral Groups Share Tips for Singing Together Online,” which includes the Master Chorale’s virtual choir video of “Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal.”
The Master Chorale’s recording of Eric Whitacre’s The Sacred Veil has been received positively by the press, including a review from the San Francisco Classical Voice.

Last but not least, the Master Chorale won the San Francisco Classical Voice’s Audience Choice Award for Best Choral Group, thanks to a 2019–20 season that was, as the Classical Voice put it, “action-packed for the group, with major performancessignature pieces, and creative educational outreach.” Congratulations to us!
