Joey Krumbein is a Southern California native who is well versed in an array of musical genres including opera, musical theatre, and r&b. They received a Bachelor of Music degree from Chapman University in the Spring of 2022 where they studied voice privately with Patrick Goeser. Shortly thereafter in the Summer of 2022, they began singing as a roster chorister for the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
Joey’s recent on-stage roles include Arcadio in Daniel Catán’s Florencia en el Amazonas, Roger in Jonathan Larsen’s RENT, and Benvolio in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette. They have had the pleasure of being featured as a soloist with the Master Chorale several times in their short time with the group. Namely for the Chorale’s performance of selections from Michael Shapiro’s Voices of the Holocaust for the opening of the Reagan Library’s Auschwitz Exhibit; resident composer, Reena Esmail's This Love Between Us; and most recently, the Chorale's touring production of Music to Accompany a Departure, a moving reimagination of Heinrich Schütz's Musikalische Exequien as staged by Peter Sellars. Joey continues to sing in and around the greater Los Angeles area in choral ensembles and other performance groups such as the Meistersingers of Orange County, Lyric Opera Orange County and Landmark Theatre Long Beach.
