graduated from NYU where he studied informally with Milton Babbitt, received an MM from NYU where he studied with Charles Wuorinen and Sollberger; began Doctoral studies in composition at Brandeis, studying with Donald Martino and Martin Boykan

Piano Concerto, Drala, Ziji, Raising the Gaze, Ashoka’s Dream, King Gesar, Neruda Songs
Commissions and collaborations: Speculum Musicae, Oppens, Fred Sherry, Tashi, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Santa Fe Opera, National Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic; has collaborated with Peter Serkin, Yo-Yo Ma, Emanuel Ax, Oliver Knussen
Curious Facts:
Founded: The Composer’s Ensemble and New Structures Ensemble  
Buddhism: studied Buddhism between 1976-81; founded a meditation program in Boston and wrote a number of Buddhist-themed pieces
