being the most famous member of the Notre Dame school of polyphony and the ars antiqua style; wrote organa, the earliest of polyphonic music, which relies heavily on the tenor, who extends each note of the original chant while the other voices sing more floridly above it

four voice Sederunt principes and Viderent omnes, and three voice  Alleluia "Posui adiutorium" and Alleluia "Nativitas"
Curious Facts:
his name and individual compositions have been preserved due to the anonymous English student Anonymous IV, who wrote about him and predecessor Léonin
