Bio:
Margaurite is living her dream! She began singing as a young girl in her church choir and began taking piano lessons at the age of 7. She attended Alexander Hamilton High School Music Academy and received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Louisiana State University where her love of choral music and opera thrived. 

While attending Louisiana State University, Ms. Mathis was a member of the prestigious Acappella Choir and Chamber Singers under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Fulton as well as Schola Cantorum, University Chorus, and Women's Chorus under the direction of Dr. Sara Lynn Baird. Margaurite has also performed in many operas with LSU Opera and performed with Baton Rouge, Greensboro, & Fort Worth Symphonies. 

Ms. Mathis has participated in numerous vocal competitions and has been awarded Grand Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Shreveport Opera Singer of the year, First Place winner of the First Annual Charles A. Lynam Vocal Competition, first place in the Rose Palmai-Tenser Scholarship audition in Mobile, Alabama, first Place Winner of the Leontyne Price Vocal Competition sponsored by the National Association of Negro Business/ Professional Women’s Club-South Central District as well as winner, finalist, and semi-finalist in many other competitions. 

Margaurite has been a vocalist on several recordings including Górecki: Miserere, Nico Muhly: A Good Understanding with Los Angeles Master Chorale, & Matalo’s Space Jungle. 

Margaurite continues to pursue her music career as a member of Los Angeles Master Chorale under the direction of Grant Gershon, as a member of SAG-AFTRA, and as a session singer.
