studied at Harvard with Walter Piston and Aaron Copland; studied at Tanglewood with Aurther Honegger, Samuel Barber and Nadia Boulanger
Notable Compositions:
Make Way for Ducklings; Christmas, Advent and Wedding cantatas
taught at the Boston Conservatory beginning in 1946, and at the New England Conservatory of Music from 1959 until his death in 2006; organist of King's Chapel in Boston for 42 years
