Was the house composer to Marie de Lorraine, Duchess of Guise; Composed devotional pieces for the private chapel of Louis XIV's son; Served as music master to the Jesuits; Served as music master of Sainte-Chapelle in Paris from 1698 until his death
Curious Facts:
There is a legend claiming that Charpentier originally moved to Rome to study painting until he was discovered by Carissimi, but there is no documentation to back up this story
